HIM OASIS BANGKOK TURNS 9

Nine years holds a special significance to Oasis Church. It means that Oasis not only turned 9, but also it is now faced with a momentous task of building a home for the church.## The arrival of 2019 was met with a mix of joyous expectation and uncertainty. HIM President Simon Eng greeted the new year with the phrase "unfamiliar waves," which Pastor Mayette Alkuino of HIM-Bangkok Oasis Church received as one of the driving words of the church this year.

True enough, early in 2019 Oasis was presented with an opportunity to acquire a property in which they could build their church home. Indeed, an answered prayer to something they have been praying for years. After nine years and millions of baht spent on rent, Oasis will finally be able to build its home in a prime location at the centre of Bangkok.

But an opportunity like this does not come without its challenges. Building a home for the church in a foreign country is just the beginning. The unfamiliar waves came in the form of securing the needed permits, raising funds, and talking serious business. All these are new for Oasis, but God also supplies the wisdom and the people needed in this new season. God is indeed our Waymaker, Miracle Worker, Promise Keeper, and Light in the darkness! Now that alone is a great reason to celebrate!

The church observed its 9th anniversary, each Sunday of September, looking back on God's faithfulness since the beginning, when only a small group of 30 started Oasis. Last September 29th 2019, at the culmination of all celebrations, there were over 200 people who were now part of the Oasis Family.

Pastor Nurot Panich of HIM Bangkok - Acts of Christ Church was the guest speaker of the event, and he gave a powerful message encouraging not only the Joshua generation to follow in serving the Lord, but also to the Caleb generation who, in their senior years, can still ask God to "give me this mountain." (Joshua 14:12) He also encouraged the church to continue on its calling to claim Thailand for Jesus. Brother Peter Truong and his wife Ruth were also present in the event. Peter has been a long-time and constant supporter and friend of Oasis.

The anniversary celebration also featured special presentations from the DMM1 (senior leaders) who sang and played live Matt Redman's "Never Once." All dynamic group leaders and disciplers also presented an energetic dance routine even in their formal attire.

Now, with many new members and an unstoppable growth, Oasis is looking forward to claiming the promised land of Thailand! Please continue to pray for the developments of Oasis' Church Home Project. With the proper supply of resources and work done for the rest of 2019, they are hoping to be able move into their own building by 2020.
