CHRISTMAS 4 KIDS BY HANDS OF HOPE COMMUNITY EVENT

It's a beautiful wrap for this year’s Christmas 4 Kids - Hands of Hope annual community event - that just happened on the 7th December. With the intention to bring Christmas joy to children and families living in the south-western suburbs of Brisbane, almost 600 people from the local community joined us for the event in spite of the heat. Every kid received a door gift of their choice and it was such a joy to see the smiles on their faces as they received it. Each kid also had the chance to win a brand new bike - proudly sponsored by a couple, Dr and Mrs W T Wong from Hope Church Brisbane.*** The kids had a great time redeeming prizes as they had fun at various game and craft stalls, supported by our volunteers and the different organizations such as Anglicare, Inala Youth Service, South Brisbane Crime Prevention Unit and the Queensland Police Service, who also came around to share about their work and allowing us to explore the interiors of their police vehicles.

We did not forget the adults! There was free coffee sponsored by Wandering Man Espresso, with sausages, popcorn and corn in a cup on the house by Hope Church Brisbane. A big thank you to Simon Au, his team at Remax and a large number of volunteers who have helped us to make this event known to the locals in the surrounding suburbs. Without your assistance, this would not have turned out the way it is. Our guests of honour of this year included Cr. Angela Owen, (Representative of Lord Mayor & Councillor of Calamvale), Cr. Charles Strunk (Councillor of Forest Lake), MP Graham Perrett and MP Milton Dick.

Last but not least, a massive shout out to all 130 volunteers who braved the heat to bring joy and smiles on the faces of everyone who came for the event. We are tremendously grateful for your heart, we really could not have made the event a success without all of your generous contributions and giving of your time and energy.

Overall, it was definitely a day of fun sprinkled with loads of love. We look forward to seeing you again in 2020!!
