HOPE KUCHING'S MISSION TRIP TO NANGA SEKEROH

This was a very much anticipated mission trip. We last went on a mission trip to Nanga Sekeroh in November 2013. Nanga Sekeroh is located in the interior of Kapit, a division in the state of Sarawak, Malaysia. The people group who we ministered to are a native tribe called the Iban. Our trip this time was from 19 to 21 Mar 2015. We currently have a life group there led by Bro Wong Sii Riong, who works as a Medical Assistant at the local clinic.



This mission team was led by William Law from Hope Kuching. The team consisted of 11 persons from Hope Kuching and 7 persons from Hope Sibu. The main objectives of this follow-up trip were to offer prayers, to challenge for salvations and to bring spiritual encouragement to our Hope Nanga Sekeroh brothers and sisters. The mission team members are all Chinese and therefore, do not speak nor understand Iban. We could only depend on Brother Sii Riong to translate.

However, language was never a barrier that could stop God’s love from flowing. We ministered to the locals with our limited Malay language but God worked wonders in our midst. There were healings of those with knee pain, finger pain, gastric and other ailments. They testified that they felt heat flowing down to their body and some felt heat flowing out from their body. One of the old women had pain in both ankles and could only move around by crawling. After she was prayed for, she stood up and walked! We were amazed by the power of God at work!

We also experienced the joy and glory of God that shone upon Rumah Unting (a long house) as the lighthouse for other long houses to look up to. Those families who stayed in Rumah Unting are prayerful and often listen to worship songs. This shows that their faith and trust is truly in Him. We are very much blessed by the Nanga Sekeroh villagers because of the simplicity of their lives and faith. We pray that there will be many more mission trips to come to encourage the locals to grow fervently in Christ.

In conclusion, we praise God for the one person who received salvation, the 13 persons who re-committed their lives to Christ, the 5 persons who were fully healed and the 3 persons who were partially healed. To God be all the glory! Amen.
