On Sunday 22nd Dec, Hope Peru spent a beautiful afternoon together. The members of our church community went together to bring the Christmas spirit to the children and youth in Villa El Salvador, an NGO called “Vidas que Valen” (Lives that are worthy), which helps handicapped people. We were all looking forward to the arrival of Sunday as we knew we would spend an unforgettable day.

When we arrived at the NGO, a group of enthusiastic youth made us feel so warmly welcomed. They made us dance together and performed a sketch giving us a great message “LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AND SHARE LIFE”. It encouraged us to give, especially when you have food, shelter and others do not have them. This sketch taught us the meaning of LOVING our neighbors. We also had a lot of fun playing games with the handicapped kids and youth there.
After that short but nice show, our community presented another sketch. Through the sketch, the people would learn that LOVE is the most important ingredient in all of life like how the Bible teaches us. Other things in life such as wealth and success are not as essential and we can have all of them as well only if we LOVE first. With the sketch, we also illustrated how wonderful it is to have the LOVE OF GOD dwelling in our hearts.
Finally, we sang carols to the handicapped. We were amazed that our voices were all in tune. Many people congratulated us for the choir, all thanks to our God who blessed us with a music teacher who played such beautiful instrumental carols. We could tell the disabled children and youth enjoyed themselves a lot because they were all smiling when the carols were being sung. We are completely sure that God our Father, who saw the smiling faces of these little angels would be smiling too because he was very happy to see so much LOVE.
We also shared hot chocolate and panetón with the disableds as what we do traditionally here in our country to celebrate Christmas.
That 22 Dec afternoon, nobody went away unimpressed with the atmosphere of joy and love among us and the disableds. Through it all, we sincerely felt our Heavenly Father was truly honored and glorified.
