15TH MALAYSIA NATIONAL CONVENTION

This year’s Malaysia National Convention (MNC) was the first MNC ever held in
Penang, Malaysia. The theme was called “ONE”. The speakers for this year’s convention were Pastor Simon Eng, Pastor Mose Wan, Pastor Kwong Lie, Pastor Denis Lu and Pastor Jeffrey Chong.

There were around 1500 delegates from the various Malaysian churches and international delegates from Singapore, Taiwan and Australia.

Indeed, throughout the three-day faith journey, the anointing of God overflowed. Every worship session, led by teams from different centers (each with their own unique style of worship), was filled with fresh anointing from the Lord. The speakers managed to deliver session after session of powerful messages that spurred the church to be ONE in our vision, in our spirit, in our heart for mission and towards God.

MNC was like an annual Hope family gathering, where old friends were reunited and new friendships were formed. And Penang’s streets filled with mouth-watering delicacies and hawker food stalls provided the perfect atmosphere for fellowship.

In Mission Night, participants dressed in their respective traditional costumes. It was a glimpse of heavenly worship in the Bible, where people from every nation, tongue and tribe will one day gather to worship before the throne of God.

Later, Ps Kwong Lie’s testimony about his life journey as a church-planter placed a burden and an urgency in many people’s hearts about their calling to reach out to the lost.

The mud-ball throwing event was a Malaysia-Guinness-Books-of-Records-worthy moment. Over 1,500 participants gather to make 20,000 enzyme mud-balls which were later thrown into the Prangin Canal to clean up the river.

The general public could not help but be attracted by our colorful t-shirts, the joyful noise and the large group of enthusiastic people creating and throwing mud-balls. It showed us what we are capable of achieving if we are willing to unite our strength.

It was clear from MNC that, despite geographical and cultural differences, all of Hope Malaysia is moving forward as one. We are all led by the same desire to see God’s kingdom advance in this land of Malaysia which God has promised us.
