HIM FAMILY NEWS
Hope Central Germany Conference
The theme of this year’s Hope Germany Central Region Conference was called “You are sent by Heaven”. The conference was held from Friday 29th to Sunday 31st October, 2010. The three-day conference was full of messages from heaven, encouragement and a great time of worship. There was plenty of time for exchanging contacts and quality time of fellowship with brothers and sisters from different churches in Central Germany.
The proceedings kicked off for the guests and members at 8pm on Friday night. We started with testimonies and awesome stories about what God has done in the region over the past few years. After a good teaching about 1 Peter 3:12 and an intensive prayer time, we ended the day with long conversations at the Chill Out bar.
Saturday began with a 6:30am prayer. After a Rock´n´Roll time for Christ, even the latest person was ready for the workshops. There were many workshop topics available and it was difficult to decide which to choose. There were teachings about breaking free from addictions, helping others and living through Christ to give the world a ready testimony. We held a water baptism for a group of people. The “Late Night Show” was the major event. God showed up and new visions were born and many people experienced the presence of God.
We all had to say goodbye on Sunday at 1 pm but we are looking forward to meet each other again next year to testify all the great things God will do in our respective churches in central Germany.
Hope London Central 12th Anniversary Celebration
On October 10 2010, Hope London Central church celebrated its 12th Anniversary at The Old Cinema, at Regent Street in Central London. The theme was "BREAK FORTH". It was a very special occasion which included a song presentation, a dance performance, a thanksgiving video from members and a message by Ps Vincent Ong. It was an action packed programme that lasted for nearly four hours in a beautiful hall and a perfect location.
The hall was packed with people. There was a tremendous atmosphere, with people clearly experiencing God’s presence. About 150 people attended the anniversary, including our members, visitors, friends, colleagues and our brothers and sisters from Hope London West church. The praise and worship session was tremendous with people clearly connecting with God and singing from their hearts. Ps Vincent delivered a message based on Isaiah 54:1-3. He challenged us not to break down, not to break even, but to break forth! And the keys to breaking forth are to enlarge our capacity, stretch our commitment and enlarge our influence for God's purpose and glory.
After the service, people were served with light refreshments and drinks so we were able to enjoy a good time of fellowship with one another. Shortly afterwards, we were treated to a Beginners Salsa class taught by our very own salsa instructors. Everyone was invited to participate, learn and engage in the dance. All in all, it was a great fun and a great anniversary celebration!
Hope Quito Ecuador Bible Conference
Our Hope Quito Conference 2010 was a success. It was held from December 4-5. The theme of the conference was “How to Accelerate our Spiritual Growth”. During the conference, we played many games; we had a fun time together. God spoke to so many of us through the teaching sessions. Many people responded to the call to prioritize spiritual growth and make the decision to put more effort towards their relationship with God.
It was the first time our church held a conference. Many of the church members were involved in leadings games, preparing food and teaching our Hope Kids. We certainly bonded like a family during this time. We held very interesting special night activities. On the first night, we played 'cuarenta', a typical Ecuador card game. We held a competition and our people enjoyed the challenge.
On the second night, we rented a chiva (a traditional truck with a music band on top) which went around Quito. The night scene of Quito is beautiful and we sang along with the music band. We also took some time to leave the chiva to sing and dance at an open field too. It was truly a memorable conference. Thank God for His presence and the wonderful experience.
Hope Tokyo, Japan
Greeting from H.I.M Tokyo! We are so thankful for Ps. Simon Eng, Ps. Kwong Lie and Swee Min for their visit to our church's retreat in Japan last month. The camp was held in the city of Karuizawa with its beautiful autumn scenery. The theme of the retreat was “A Healthy Body”. We learned that everyone is vital organ in the Body of Christ; we all need to function together to fulfil the Great Commission.
Pastor Simon shared the key ingredients that make an excellent team. We are now inspired to build such a strong team in Japan. Pastor Kwong Lie also challenged us to build the church which is after God's own heart. His life example inspires us to live fully for God to build His people. The pastors kindly joined in playing fun activities with us. We feel closer to one another as a family of God. Thank you for your prayers and support!
HIM Cabuyao 2nd Anniversary, the Philippines
We thank God for His blessings as our church reached its second year of ministry. Our anniversary was titled “Living as Shining Stars”, with special guest speaker Dr. Eunice Tan Meesaengtham. We saw 101 people attend this event. Aside from the fellowship with God, we also enjoyed the occasion because of our two new air-conditioning units and lighting fixtures.
The celebrations included surprise presentations by our Performing Arts and Hope Kids Ministry. They were able to glorify God by using their gifting and abilities. We thank the Holy Spirit for 12 people accepting Christ as their personal Savior and Lord. H.I.M Cabuyao, Philippines, anticipates greater miracles from the Lord as He leads us to places beyond our imaginations.
In addition to our second Anniversary, we also had our Medical and Dental Service with Dr. Eunice, Dr. Janet Pineda and Dr. Bryan Ong as our guest doctor and dentists. Many of our friends also came and offered a lending hand in providing free medical services. We are strongly committed in being a salt and light to our community. To God be the glory!
Pastor Henry & Hani
Davao Missions Adventure, the Philippines
We thank God for opening the door of opportunity for the mission team to go and visit our daughter church in Davao in October 29 – November 2, 2010. The mission team was able to collect funds to help pay for airfare, transportation, food and accommodation.
God surely provided for the trip! The Mission Team composed of ten members, mainly from the Campus Ministry, and a sister from the Professional Sub-District. The team’s primary goals were that God would enlarge their heart for missions and learn from brothers and sisters in Davao as they are pioneering a church.
During the mission trip, the team was able to hold “Build up Shepherds’ Class.” in Davao. They were able to help our members in Davao develop in the areas of follow-up and evangelism. The team had an opportunity to evangelize and share their experiences in serving God, particularly in following up new converts. The presence of God was surely felt all throughout their trip. They were touched by the openness of the people in Davao. The mission team return to Manila with their hearts and vision enlarged for God’s mission. Our team had experienced His favor, providence and anointing. We thank God for such opportunity and we hope many more people would visit our spiritual family in Davao.
Hope Labuan 10th Church Anniversary
Hope Labuan recently celebrated its 10 year anniversary on the auspicious date of 10-10-10. We had around 130 people in attendance for this event, including the children who provided much joy in the celebrations. We had the privilege of hosting Pastor Denis and Pastor Daniel, who came all the way from Hope Kuching and Hope Serdang respectively. Pastor Daniel, the pioneer of Hope Labuan, testified of how God led him to pioneer the church here in 2000. Pastor Denis preached an inspiring message entitled "Back to the Future", where our main focus in life is to strive for what is ahead and not allowing our past to hold us back.
“Decade of Hope” was the theme we chose for our anniversary. This theme is so appropriate because it speaks about the past 10 years and our next ten til 2020. It was the hope in Christ that brought us this far and seeing many lives transformed to be more and more like Christ. And we believe that this same hope will bring us even further for the next decade.
With this, Hope Labuan is looking forward for the next ten years. We are committed to build the house of the Lord and extend blessings to the community around us. Happy 10th year anniversary Hope Labuan!
Hope Queanbeyan First Anniversary
On September 12, Hope Queanbeyan jubilantly celebrated our first year Anniversary. Planning the event for over a month beforehand, we were all so excited about how God had blessed us so tangibly that we put heart and soul into it!
We had 70 people at church on this day, with lots of guests and new faces at our church. We all say a big thank you to all the people who put in the hard work to invite so many visitors to church, especially Pastor Nonoi Condat. Hope Queanbeyan has a large proportion of Filipino members in our congregation, and many of our guests were Filipinos.
Starting out the proceedings, each Life Group brought an item to share. The Thomas Royal Life Group presented a short DVD presentation called “The Bridge Master”, which spoke volumes about the love of God, and how he let His beloved Son die in our place. The group then sang a lively rendition of Lamentations 3:22 and 23: “His love is new every morning; great is your faithfulness”.
The Tharwa Road Life Group presented a wonderfully colourful African rendition of a song that was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone! The kids and the adults from Tharwa group gave us a beautiful demonstration of joyful African praise. It was an absolute delight! The children from Kids Church performed a lovely dance presentation. It was really beautiful. The worship team led us in a wonderful time of praise and worship, and we really had a great time singing our hearts out in thanks to God! Then little Chelle-Pauline sang a beautiful song while the offering was being taken up.
Pastor Lance Wolter was our visiting speaker from Hope Gold Coast, and Pastor Lance blessed us with a message from Nehemiah 4: 6 “So we rebuilt the wall till all of it reached half its height, for the people worked with all their heart.” It was a time of gratitude that so much work had been done, yet also recognising that much remains to be done. And praise the Lord, the people had a mind to work! Thank you, Pastor Lance, for giving us such an encouraging sermon.
After the sermon, came the time for prayer, with many of our visitors coming forward during altar call. It was then time for the Filipino Food Fiesta! What a feast! We thank all those who put in the hard yards of preparing all the culinary delights, especially to Sister Nene, who coordinated all the preparations. It was a great success, and everyone had a great feed!
We are all so grateful to God that we had such a wonderful first year. We thank Pastor Nonoi for his hard work over the last twelve months, and thank you to every member of the church for all their hard work. We hope to see God do even more wonderful things in the year to come. Truly, the people have a mind to work - praise the Lord!
