HOPE KUCHING: CHARITY WITHOUT BORDERS
This article features Hope Place, which is an NGO active in helping the poor and needy in Sarawak, Malaysia. Hope Kuching volunteers heavily in this NGO as we believe in being the hands and feet of Jesus, being the salt of the earth and the light of the world. God is indeed at work through this NGO. This particular project was a collaboration with a 4-Wheel Drive Club and this is the second year that Hope Place collaborated with them to bring help to the interior areas of Lubok Antu, Sarawak.
What started off as a humble collaboration between individual volunteers from Hope Place and the Kelab Pacuan Empat Road (4-Wheel Drive Club) team from Bintulu, Sarawak last year is now making its come back this Christmas season with another mission to Rumah Bawi. Rumah Bawi is a long house located in the interiors of Lubok Antu, far from civilisation and lack water and electricity supply.
The Charity Without Borders 2.0 team started their journey of bringing hope, joy and love to the residents of Rumah Bawi on the 12th of December 2014. Moving into to help the villagers of Rumah Bawi in a more sustainable method, Hope Place and the 4WD team carried with them plant seeds on top of other basic food necessities such as rice, Milo, biscuits and noodles in their effort to help create more sustainable food resource for the villagers of Rumah Bawi.
Apart from that, the 40 4-wheel drives and their drivers from Miri, Bintulu, Sibu, Sri Aman, Sarikei, Saratok, Batu Niah, Belaga and Kuching journeyed approximately 12 hours on mostly logging roads with the mission to repair bridges which were in ill state and may cause harm to the users from the village. Members of the team also consisted of hair- dressers who used their talents to bless the community of Rumah Bawi with free haircut services. All in all, the mission was a success!
