HOPE KOTA KINABALU CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION

On 24th December 2014 at a famous Chinese Restaurant, Hope Kota Kinabalu organised a Christmas celebration with the theme "Marvel" which was in line with “Greater”, the theme of our recent Hope Borneo Convention (HBC). "Marvel" also reminded us that the only One whom we marvel in, is Jesus Christ our Lord. A total of 101 adults and 12 kids joined our Christmas event this year.

The program started with ice-breaking games whereby the crowds were brought together through laughter and shouts of joy! A video about the true meaning of Christmas was then played and many hearts were touched.

A cute dance was performed by a 6-year old girl in collaboration with the church’s DOM-i-Nation Youth Group as an opening dance. Just from the faces of the audience, we could see that they did really enjoy the graceful moves! This was followed by a song presentation, “From this Moment”, performed with candle light by every single member of the Family Group. The DOM-i-Nation Youth Group performed a dance cum drama with the song entitled "The Night Before Christmas". Everyone was very engaged with the performance. Many shed tears as they reflected upon their own lives and beliefs.

Pastor Anthony Ng with his translator, Dora, delivered a sermon on the Marvel of Heaven who is Christ Jesus alone. The crowd was challenged to invest into their spiritual walk with Jesus as the Saviour of our fallen world.

A video parody of "Marvel: The Avengers" was played to paint a picture on how Jesus has saved mankind, in a comedic fashion. Everyone had a good laugh! Thanks to the university students who had shown much talent in acting. Last but not least, the Working Adult Group presented a soul-touching song – “There will be Miracle when you Believe, there is Love". It captivated each and every of one our hearts as we sang along.

Our Christmas celebration ended with a high praise and gift exchange. It was indeed a memorable event for the church and our visitors. We will always remember the true meaning of Christmas i.e., the birth of Jesus Christ to save mankind. The important task after this is to follow up on the pre-believers who joined us; do pray for their salvation!
