HIM INTERCESSORS NEWSLETTER: NOV ISSUE

Dear fellow intercessors,

I sincerely hope that you are well in every way in the Lord! What do people do towards end of year? Some tend to look back and evaluate how time has flown. Some are trying to figure out what have they been doing in the past months in 2014. As for me, it has certainly been one of the most adventurous years of my life.

I am grateful to God for enabling me to serve Him. Through the many varied experiences of culture and context, I have come to realise the generosity of God’s heart in empowering us to partner with Himself in extending His Kingdom work. It is such a privilege to know Him and to serve the Lord and the people!

On the same token, I am extremely aware of the need to just be so dependent upon the Lord. It is God’s work, and it has got to be done God’s way! So, just that constant connection with Papa God grants me His grace and strength to convey His heart and carry out His work each day. He never ceases to amaze me!

Yet, I have learnt to not just connect with Him just to be anointed but more than that, it is to know Him and His heart, to hear Him! Loving relationship is what He seeks for from us! What a wonder it is to gaze upon God’s beauty each day as we commune with Him.

Ruth Graham once wrote : “When we are away from God, He misses us far more than we miss Him.”

Psalms 139:5 - 6 (TMSG) 5I look behind me and you’re there, then up ahead and you’re there, too— your reassuring presence, coming and going. 6This is too much, too wonderful— I can’t take it all in!

May today’s article written by Adam Lew, one of our key intercessors in Hope Church Brisbane, encourage your heart in the Lord! Prayer changes us and the world around us! May I encourage each of you to continue to pray for the coming Global Conference which will be held in Bangkok come January 2015. May we rise up to be spiritual fathers and mothers of faith for God’s awesome purposes!

Praying with you, Ps Lai Ling

10000 Hours of Prayer

Time is the most precious gift given by God and He wants us to steward it well. In order to make the best use of our time and to achieve the most from it, we need to then establish a schedule that is in agreement with our life goals and life vision. Believers who are “spiritually asleep” can often trace part of their problem to an unwise use of their time. People can feel depressed by living aimlessly without goals. Prayer brings us nearer to achieving God’s goals and life vision for our lives.

In the middle of March 2014, St Lucia Centre of Hope Church Brisbane, set a goal to reach 10,000 hours of prayer. Praise God, we managed to reach the goal within the set timeframe. Our heart’s desire is to see awakening in our church and see God bring us to another level of worship, devotion and breakthroughs.

On the launch date of the campaign, we challenged and inspired people through the Word of God and have them write down how many hours of prayer they would like to commit to the Lord in the next period of four months. In order for us to see the progress of prayer campaign as a church, we created a website for the people to log in the prayer hours. We also created a Facebook page to encourage the people to pray and to share testimonies. It really encouraged people to believe God for personal breakthroughs.

Throughout this campaign, we saw God’s mighty hand at work when sicknesses were healed, prodigal children came to their senses and returned to the Lord, relationships being restored, miraculous turnaround of bleak financial and job situations and children of God discovering their God-given vision and giftings.

We are called to live lives of prayer. We shall not forsake our appointed times of prayer. Instead we shall live our lives as disciples of Christ in constant communion with God. While Jesus was on earth, he showed us a great example by constantly setting apart His time just to commune with God. But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. (Luke 5:16, NIV)

When we pray, we are changed by God and the world around us changes! In His presence, miracles happen. Nothing is impossible for Him! Work, work, from morning until late at night. In fact, I have so much to do that I shall have to spend the first three hours in prayer. ~ Martin Luther
