HOPE MALAYSIA CENTRAL NORTHERN CONVENTION

The Central Northern Convention (CNC) for Hope Malaysia was held on 30th August until 1 September 2014 in the city of Ipoh, at the Tower Regency Hotel. This year, the convention’s theme was “GREATER”. The goal of this convention was to lead everyone to meet our great God, which in turn, will lead us to live greater lives in touching our community on a different dimension. This convention saw a record of 660 adults and 96 children participants. Participants came from all across the central and northern region of Peninsula Malaysia.

The convention was kicked off by a powerful prayer session and opening ceremony led by Ps Bong Kit Siang. Ps Simon Eng shared the first sermon entitled “No Greater God”. Ps Simon shared about getting our perspectives right by first looking towards God and not our situation. For the second lesson, our invited speaker from Hope Kuching, Ps Denis Lu, shared about serving others with our gifting titled “Greater Serving”. In the third lesson, Pastor Moses Wan shared about living with God’s power because it is God’s will, titled “Greater Power”. The last lesson was shared by Ps Simon. He shared about the call to do greater things in our daily lives entitled “Greater Works”.

One highlight of the convention was the unveiling of our very first simulation game called “SimChurch v1.0”, which involved every participant from the family groups to the students. This activity simulated the living of our daily lives with the end goal of Jesus’ return. It was an exciting experience and an eye-opener to the urgency of living our lives fully for Him. Besides that, the convention also had various workshops relevant to different stages of life.

The workshops promoted Greater Families for parents, Greater Careers and Greater Calling for working adults, Greater Relationships and Greater Purpose for students. A special workshop called Greater Community encouraged participants on impacting the community by blessing the poor, needy and hurt. Overall, CNC was a success at steering participants towards a greater dimension with our great God.
