HOPE CAMBODIA CHURCH PLANTING NEWS
In the month of June, we saw a major step in Hope Cambodia as we helped one of our Cambodian brothers, Vireak to set up an education shed next to his house where he can hold daily English classes for the many children and youths in his village. Previously, Vireak was only able to teach in the evenings as he had to rent a classroom in the government school after their lessons have ended. He even had to bring his own lamp to the classroom as the classroom does not have lamps.
Two groups of brothers and sisters from Singapore came to help out with the setting up of the educational shed. One group creatively used local materials such as fishing net to decorate the classroom and also brought educational materials such as English posters and educational toys for the education shed. Another group organized an open house for the education shed, which saw 180 children turned up enthusiastically. We were indeed overwhelmed by the turnout and thankfully some of the Cambodian brothers and sisters also came to help. It was “scary” to see 180 children running around but yet so exciting to know that Vireak has a platform to impact so many lives where he is.
We are so glad that now Vireak has a classroom to call his own and he is able to impact more children and youths through this education shed. It is our prayer that through this platform where the children, youths and even the parents of the children get to interact and share lives with Vireak, Vireak will be able to sow gospel seeds in the hearts of these people who have not heard of Jesus’s name and may this education shed be a place where a community of brothers and sisters can gather to worship our Almighty God.
