HOPE MALAYSIA CENTRAL REGION - BIBLE CONFERENCE 2014

Hope Kuala Lumpur (KL) recently had the privilege to host the Hope Malaysia’s Central Region Bible Conference (BC) with the theme “Not One Less”. The BC was held from 28th February until 2nd March 2014 at Yuk Chai School in Petaling Jaya. The participants consisted of members from Hope churches across central region namely, Ipoh, Kampar, Seremban, Kuantan, Kuala Terengganu and other towns.

This particular BC was a unique and special one. The main objective of this Bible Conference was to embrace everyone in their different stations of life. It was designed to cater to the needs of different groups from the young to the old. The BC started on Friday night at Hope KL with Ps Simon Eng, the President of Hope International Ministries, sharing God’s heart for His children. Ps Simon set the tone for the BC by emphasising God’s passionate heart to see His children come back to Him regardless of where we are and that God’s heart should resonate in us to take care and love His sheep.

On the second day, there were various workshops where different needs of specific groups of people were addressed. There was a total of 12 workshops to choose from. There were special invited guests to talk about age-specific topics. For example speakers from “Focus on the Family” gave a talk entitled “No Apologies” to encourage youths, college and university students to be wise and live pure in their relationships. Successful and experienced Christians in the private sector, such as Karen Ng and Alex Chan, also gave a relevant and interesting talk to working adults about excelling in your career and making wise decisions guided by God’s principles in work and business. Ps Geraldine James from Lifeline International Ministries gave a talk entitled “Half Time” to encourage people to live with purpose even though they feel like they should be stopping. There were many other talks that inspired and challenged participants to live by God’s principles at every stage of life.

On the final day of the BC, Ps Simon delivered a sermon to inspire all participants to give holistic care to people as they mature into different stages in life. The sermon talked about practical areas which we as shepherds of God’s people can look into for our own personal lives and as we minister to our brothers and sisters. Participants were then split into homogeneous groups based on their age and stage in life to talk about the ways that we can address each other’s needs.

In conclusion, the Not One Less BC has taught and inspired us to live a life that is after God’s heart. He also wants the entire church to return to Him just like the prodigal son and care for one another as a family so that we will have not one less to finish the race He has given to us.
