HOPE QUITO COMMUNITY OUTREACH IN PAN DE VIDA

We have been praying and thinking for a long time how to have a discipleship slant in our community project with Pan de Vida. The breakthrough came in March when we managed to challenge our church members to pair up to lead small Bible study groups instead of just one person preaching to everybody.

On 30th March, 102 adults and 112 children came to Pan de Vida. Thank God for all our Hope Kids teachers who helped to run the classes for the children. The rest of us were freed up to teach the adults. I preached to 72 adults who were mostly first or second time visitors. The rest of the adults were divided to groups of 10 and our church members paired up to share with them about repentance. The people at Pan de Vida enjoyed the interaction in learning the Bible and it was a memorable experience for our members too.

Some of our members and friends also helped to prepare and cook the food. After the Bible study groups, food was served in an orderly manner as people queued up to get their food. 7 people came to know the Lord that day and we prayed that they would continue to grow in their faith in Jesus.

We have also collaborated with Pan de Vida in a project to help the poorest of the poor in Quito. Some of them live with pigs and chickens. With the help of Pan de Vida, some of our members went down to help clean up and renovate the rented house of the needy people.
