NEXT GENERATION NETWORKING IN TAIPEI

Next Gen Networking in Taipei HIM has been encouraging leaders from different HIM churches to relate with each other. For example, HIM has created avenues for people to join different interest group to encourage each other, share ideas and work out opportunities for synergy. There are interest groups such as Worship, Current and Future Church Planters, Community Impact, and NextGen. This month, we feature one network called the Next Gen Leadership which was started in the July 2012 Global Conference as an informal gathering of youth and young adult leaders. This networking initiative is in response to our 5-year Strategic Master Plan, CATALYSE,which sets a direction, among others, to intentionally nurture next generation leaders for sustainable growth. 

Next Gen Networking prepares the next generation for leadership in their local church by reaching out to youth and young adults and involving them in the thinking, ministry, worship and structure of the church. The very first Next Gen Networking was held in Kuching back in July 2012 and again the second time in Taipei, Taiwan during the Global Conference earlier this year. In these two gatherings, we have seen the greater need for youth, young adult and student leaders across our family of churches to synergise and work together to prepare the future church leaders in our local churches and beyond. 

At the recent gathering in Taipei, the Next Gen leaders from across the globe had the opportunities to receive coaching from current leaders and also connect with other likeminded leaders. Through the workshops, leaders developed an understanding on how to apply what they learnt and how to coach other youths and young adults in their local churches in the areas of worship, evangelism and discipleship. Whilst, networking opportunities provided leaders a chance to share the challenges they faced in their local churches and to receive input from other leaders on how to approach such challenges. Since the event, many of the Next Generation leaders have continued to stay in touch through Facebook and other forms of communication.

We are thankful for HIM Taipei and leaders from other countries who invested not only their time and effort in hosting the event and facilitating the workshops but who have dedicated their lives to building His church. Their dedication andwork will help to ensure the ongoing impact of the church in the marketplace, communities and nations. The Next Gen Networking event will be held at the upcoming Global Conference in Singapore, this July 2013.
