Pastors and leaders from across the entire HIM converged to the beautiful Longbon Resort in Taipei, Taiwan for the Global Conference (GC) from 15-18 January 2013. The theme for this GC was 'Five Fold', based on Ephesians 4:9-11. The GC speakers were Pastor Simon Eng, President of HIM; Pastor Wilson Lim, an elder of HIM; and Pastor Larry Kreider, the International Director of DOVE International.
The teachings covered all aspects of the Five Fold: the need for it in our churches, the benefits and power of the Five Fold, and how to nurture and develop the Five Fold. Pastor Larry shared his story of how God used a chicken farmer to become a pastor, and then called him to establish an international network of churches that operates in the Five Fold. One of the highlights of his teaching was the need for spiritual fathers/mothers in nurturing the five fold which really stroke a chord in our hearts. Pastor Larry's testimony and teaching blessed all the delegates.
Aside from the teachings, there were workshops to cater for all interests and ministry levels. Topics spanned from building leadership teams to preaching an expository sermon, from discussing spiritual gifts to evaluating church health. Various interest groups such as Worship, Future and Current Church Planters, Intercessors, etc, also met up to share ideas, encourage and connect with each other. The brothers and sisters also fellowshipped with one another, sharing stories and testimonies from their own churches. Outside the GC, delegates took the opportunity to explore Taiwan's famous night markets and the country's equally famous fusion cuisine.
Altogether, it was an incredible GC where every leader was convicted of the importance of the Five Fold in our churches. As all the delegates returned home, there is a new determination to develop and nurture our churches and HIM to the next level.
