PASTOR SIMON ENG MESSAGE

Hi HIM Family,

I'm so delighted to be able to share with us again. I'm so happy to be able to connect with you.

Growing in Faith

The first area I learned and wish to communicate with us, is about faith. God desires us to operate in faith and I would like to ask ourselves a question:

Am I exercising faith regularly, or am I just operating from experiences? Am I just operating from things that I am so familiar with?

I believe God wants us to step out in faith and indeed, fresh faith, fresh manna that we receive from God that will be able to touch our people that will be able to impact the things that we do, that we know. God is attracted by faith. When we walk in faith, when we live by faith, and when we dare to step out in faith, I believe the Holy Spirit will do something much more than we can ever do with our own thinking and with our own ideas alone. I want to encourage us, church, to be able to be people who will step out in faith. That's one thing I learned about being a pastor and a leader and to walk with God.

Growing in the Lord

The second area that I believe I would like to encourage us to analyse and look at our selves is:

Am I caught in a rut? Am I caught in a familiar pattern that I cannot break out of. Am I becoming too stale, stagnant in doing the same things without realizing that I'm in a rut?

I want us to look at ourselves and look at what we've been doing and I believe that if your answer is, "I'm doing the same thing and surprisingly (or not surprisingly) we're seeing the same results." I'd like to encourage us to maybe look at implementing new ideas. I'd like to encourage us to implement new ideas and learn new skills that will get us out of the rut. It's important for us as leaders that we are evolving or repackaging things that we've been doing and we haven't been seeing as much results, or even if we have been seeing results, it's good that we learn how to reformat some of these areas so that we can bring greater growth, greater progress. Remember Jesus says He looks at the grape vine and every branch that does not bear fruit He prunes it away. Or even if it was producing, He prunes it so that new shoots, new fruits therefore can come about. I think it is important for us to be ready and willing to get out of the rut and try some new approach. I think it will be very useful for us as well.

Keeping to proven fundamentals

Thirdly I'd like to share and encourage us to think about this area of keeping to proven fundamentals. What are some proven fundamentals
  • Evangelism is a proven fundamental. We've got to evangelise in order to fulfil what God's heart is to reach souls and we need to continue to evangelize in order to see growth happen. New souls must come into the Kingdom of God regularly.
  • Another proven principle and fundamental is making disciples. There's no shortcut to reproducing effective people in the Kingdom. There's no shortcut to reproducing people that will hold responsibilities in the Kingdom - it's through discipleship. Jesus has shown it to us. Three and a half years with the disciples. He imparted, he taught them, he showed them. Eventually they did what He did. Paul says the same to Timothy - what you have learned, what I've taught you, pass on to those who are able to also raise others and train others.
  • The third proven principle is multiplying new groups. We have to sow into our people the DNA that we are church planting. We are group multiplying. We are continuing to bring about fresh groups that will be able to multiply into new groups. Peter Wagner says and indeed also Rick Warren has caught on to that, you know the fastest way to fulfil the great commission is actually planting new groups. Therefore I think the proven fundamental of training our leaders and multiplying new groups will bring about a greater spread and faster spread of the gospel as well.
Church and Brothers and Sisters, I want us to take on some of these thinking analyses, some of these fresh approaches that we can bring in our walk with God, in our leadership and leading people, in us who are pastors, implementing the work of the Holy Spirit and ideas into the church. I believe that we ourselves need to continue to evolve with God. We need to grow with God, enlarge with God and allow the Holy Spirit to bring I think these few key ideas and a few key things that we need to do in our church regularly.

May God be with you until I communicate with you again, the Holy Spirit bless you and God's presence continue to strengthen you. Amen
