CATALYSE HALF- YEAR UPDATE

Catalyse Half Year Update at Global Conference

By Nicola Song (SPT Secretariat)

Nicola works as a full-time staff in Hope International Ministries. She is involved in the youth ministry in Hope Kuching and takes care of international students. In this story, she summarises the official CATALYSE half-year update presented during the VIBRANT Global Conference in Johor Bahru in July.

My heart was full of anticipation and expectation as I landed in Johor Bahru on the evening of 13 July 2011. For the next few days, I was involved in a series of meetings with HIM leaders prior to the Vibrant Global Conference. One of the meetings was the Strategic Planning Team summit. We last met face-to-face in Chiang Mai in January for the Passion Global Conference which was half a year ago. CATALYSE, our first-ever global master plan was launched during the Passion GC. It was so good to be able to sit down at the same table to evaluate the progress of CATALYSE and to hear our President’s heart for the movement. This is a half-year update of the happenings following the January launch of CATALYSE.

Our Launch

The day after the launch, our Initiative Leaders and members gathered for Initiative Meetings on Sat, 22 January 2011. The room felt electric as excitement filled the atmosphere. God continued to reassure us with prophetic messages that we are going down the right path. We encouraged each Initiative Leader to start with investing one hour a week into the transformation of our movement.

Our Teams

The Strategic Planning Team is now focusing on implementation. Our Initiative teams are 16 virtual teams of volunteers. They come from different cities and work in different time zones. They are also active in church ministry. After 6 months of norming, the teams are starting to work. Many of our teams are at the brainstorming stage and some have moved on to the solution development stage. In general, Initiative teams are getting started, getting to know each other and feeling their way around the initiative. There are no fruits yet but there are green shoots. For example, our Five-fold initiative is now trying out a three-level prophetic equipping track. We are also making some headway in the Kingdom Partnerships initiative with the Elders making initial connections with several leaders of different churches and like-minded movements such as Pastor Sunday Adelaja, Pastor Ed Silvoso and Pastor Phil Pringle.

During, the Vibrant GC in Johor Bahru last month, our Initiative teams gathered again for meetings on the afternoon of 19 July 2011 which is the first day of the GC. We were glad to see that some of the team members who were not able to attend the first Initiative team meetings in January present in the July meetings.

Our Outreach
We publish bi-annual publications as an awareness tool. We released our first publication in January 2011 in the Chiang Mai GC. The second publication was released in July 2011 in the recent Johor Bahru GC. We shall be producing another publication for January 2012. The CATALYSE package was also snail-mailed to all our churches in February 2011. It contained a DVD of the CATALYSE launch in January 2011. You can also watch this video on the homepage of our website at www.byhim.org. We also have monthly feature stories on Advance e-newsletter. There are currently 1,430 subscribers for this monthly news bulletin.

In keeping up with popularity and the increasing reach of social networks, HIM has an active Facebook Group for church core team leaders for CATALYSE. We are now also on Twitter! Please do follow on Twitter at CATALYSE_byHIM. Next, we hope to post updates on our corporate website at www.byhim.org to communicate to every member in the HIM family.

Our Intranet

One of the projects undertaken by the Strategic Planning Team is the Intranet. This is our resource-sharing portal for HIM Pastors and Coordinators. We are using Google cloud-based service. We are now still in the midst of populating this space with content. We aim to issue access to Pastors and Coordinators by September 2011.

Global Management Team

One key Priority at the moment is Priority 5 which is to establish an effective global management team. The Strategic Planning team is the scaffolding. We need a permanent management team. A global management team is needed by HIM as a global church organisation. Please do keep HIM and the Elders in prayer as they source and recruit people to join our global management team.

Let us together as one family, SPARK A TRANSFORMATION locally, nationally and internationally!
