HIM STRATEGIC PLANNING UPDATE

STRATEGIC PRIORITY 5 OF 6

Plans are underway for the launch of CATALYSE - the five-year plan of HIM, which will be launched in January 2011 at the Global Conference (GC) in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

For now, here is an overview of our fifth of Six Strategic Priorities from 2011 – 2015: From Basic to Professional Management

From the time our first Hope international church was planted more than 20 years ago in 1988, our family of churches internationally has, for the longest time been managed in a family-oriented, piece-meal approach. The systems and structures, policies and practices that any growing global movement requires were evidently lacking. It became most glaring in the wake of the 2008 crisis.

As a movement, we now have a presence in over 40 nations across the globe with over 200 churches and mission points. Undoubtedly, the development of certain vital organisational infrastructure must be in place to support and sustain the growth of our churches worldwide. We have three key initiatives for this strategic priority.

First, we will establish an executive management team. This team will see to matters of Administration, Corporate Communications, Finance, Human Resources and Information Technology.

Second, we will set up a Global Office whereby member churches in the movement can look to and it can serve as a point of reference and resource for various issues arising in the local churches. Hence, the necessity for a professional global management team which is befitting of a global movement.

Third, we will develop church polity. We will detail the biblical, historical and theological rationale for our global polity. We will give attention to governance, ministerial and organisational structures of our churches and movement. This will provide us the clarity in managing the complexities and challenges related to a growing global movement.

Next month, we’ll take you to the sixth Strategic Priority. Till then feel free to write to us at
