STRATEGIC PRIORITY 2 OF 6
In our last update, we gave you an overview of the first of Six Strategic Priorities for the next five years from 2011 – 2015.
This month we bring you an overview of our second Strategic Priority: From a largely Asian Church Planting Movement (CPM) to a Global CPM
We know that the early church took the message they heard in Aramaic to other lands. To contextualise the message, they expressed it in the thought patterns of the receptor. The apostle Paul did this in Acts chapter 17 when speaking with the Greeks. He spoke in the context of the many gods that they worship. The words and ideas of the Greeks were used as communication tools and their usage was transformed by the Holy Spirit in the hearts and minds of those listening.
Our movement’s goal is the development of healthy and effective cross-cultural church planting. Our initiatives will include developing cross-cultural models of church life and ministry and church planting task forces for Africa, Latin America and the West.
We have Asian origins but we are becoming a global movement. Accordingly, we encourage member churches in the intentional advancement of God’s kingdom across cultural and language barriers; beyond our normal boundaries of influence.
Our heart-felt prayer is for Acts 1:8 to come alive!
