INTENTIONAL DISCIPLESHIP CONFERENCE, SINGAPORE
These are exciting times for Hope Church (Singapore)! As we prepare to move into larger premises by 2011, we are expecting more people to join us. Discipleship is one of our core values and it is important now more than ever. 2010 is the Year of Intentional Discipleship as we prepare ourselves to be strong disciples and disciple makers alike. A cornerstone of these efforts, the Intentional Discipleship 2010 Conference was held from 29–31 May at Suntec Convention Hall 601 - 602.
The importance of discipleship
Young and old, men and women, people from different nations – it was marvellous to see the whole Hope Singapore family gathered under one roof. During the first two days, we learnt from Pastor Jeff and Pastor Simon Eng about various aspects of discipleship, including the “why”, “what” and “how” of discipleship. Care groups bonded during CG Bonding time and discussed their spiritual “bucket list” – things we would like to do as disciples of Christ before we hit the bucket, after watching the movie “Bucket List” screened during the conference as one of the learning avenues.
Around 3800 gathered for the conference
Besides learning together, close to 3800 of us also worshiped, prayed and played together. Many received healing from God and experienced God’s touch upon their lives during Anew, the prophetic night with extended prayer time on the second night.
The church also celebrated the God-given talents in the house through the songwriting and photo competitions, as well as through the songs, music, dance and multimedia performances.
Church Family Day
On Day 3 of the Conference, we put aside our notes and geared up in sports attire to enjoy ourselves at the Church Family Day. And guess what new stuff could come up when a bunch of excited people gathered together? The adventurous ones would do something they have not done before! And, yes, we did it!
Hope Singapore set a new Singapore record for the Most Number Of People Doing A Frog Jump Wave with 764 participants on 31 May 2010 @ Yio Chu Kang Stadium!
We are now the proud holder of the national record for the most number of people doing a frog-jump wave! How cool is that! ;)
Being His disciple and disciple makers
Many good things had come out of the ID2010 Conference, but we know that they are not “it”. The best is yet to come! Discipleship and building the church - life by life and brick by brick – is definitely going to stay and be the main reason why we are here. May the joy of discipleship continue to be discovered, and the supernatural wisdom and strength from God fall upon us as we journey together into becoming His disciples and disciple makers!
