HIM STRATEGIC PLANNING UPDATE
Our Strategic Planning process is now well underway to develop an overarching direction, achieve effective synergy and recapture our cutting edge as a global movement.
It has not been easy pulling together the first-ever plan for a movement spread across 40 countries and one that has just gone through a severe crisis. But we thank God that we are now in the final phase of that process which will culminate in our 5-year Strategic Plan. The responses from the official surveys to HIM leaders and ministers were used extensively for this purpose.
We have had four planning summits since November last year. The recent two-day planning summit was the most productive thus far. The focus is becoming clearer. The ideas are converging. The entire planning process is now expected to be completed in third quarter of 2010.
Six strategic priorities have emerged for the next 5 years from 2011-2015. We are now developing the major initiatives to implement these priorities. In line with this, we are also commencing on the ministry plan for the year 2011.

Do pray with us over the ongoing discussion on the proposed vision statement. It is a statement that captures what we “see” and “what it would look like” for HIM. We are also integrating key elements such as M238 and our vision and philosophy with this Strategic Plan.
The SPT was planning to conduct formal presentations at national and regional councils during the months of June to September 2010. We have since reviewed this approach. Specifically, we have re-assessed our resources in terms of manpower, finance and time required to conduct formal presentations in multiple sites around the globe.
After discussion and evaluation, our joint conclusion is to put more emphasis on the launch of the Strategic Plan in January 2011. Instead of formal road shows, we will now give a general overview of the five-year Strategic Plan when top leaders minister in various national settings during the second half of this year.
