Hope Got Talent X Countdown! @ Hope Church Kuching
At about 8.30pm, the main hall was overflowing with people. Approximately 129 people came for this event. There were 6 different groups ranging from dances, to skits, to bands, etc. These 6 groups had been burning the midnight oil, cracking their brains and going the extra mile to make these performances great and entertaining and hoping to win the grand prize of RM300. The program kick started off with an interesting ice breaker game which made everyone laugh their socks off. Thereafter, Talent Show commenced. The chairperson explained the details and the objective of this talent show; 70% is based on judges votes while 30% is based on the audience votes. Each audience gets to log onto a webpage where they can put their votes in. The marking criteria is based on their originality, creativity, team spirit and the overall performance.
The first group was a band from Ablaze Kuching performing a medley of different Christian songs. Next, was a group of 4 guys from Hope Kota Samarahan performing a K-pop dance which was splendidly synchronized. The following group was a skit by the university students from Ablaze Kuching telling the story of God’s great love. Hope Kota Samarahan followed with a hilarious skit showcasing how joyful life is after coming to know God. Next a group from Ablaze Kuching performed a skit about how God can use our talents. Last but not least, an elegant and eye catching dance with a backstory about how God will never forsake us was performed by a group from Ablaze Kuching.
After short break with snacks, the results were announced. In the third place, with a RM100 cash voucher, was a group who performed a skit by Ablaze Kuching and in second place with a RM200 cash voucher, was the sophisticated and elegant dance group from Ablaze Kuching. The first place with a RM300 cash voucher, went to a group from Hope Kota Samarahan who performed a hilarious and amusing skit about how happy life is after knowing God. There were also special prizes given out for the Most Original group, the Most Creative group and the group with the Best Team Chemistry. Every group came down with a huge smile on their face as their hard work was paid off.
Then, it was time for the countdown to the new year, 2019. Everyone jumped off their seats as the high praise started. Each and every person was screaming and singing their lungs out, praising and thanking God for what He did in 2018. A one-minute countdown was set, and everyone counted down to 1st of January 2019. It was truly spectacular to witness God’s children praising and thanking Him. The event ended with a prayer and the first praise song of 2019 as well as everyone lending a hand to clean up the hall. Hope Got Talent X Countdown was truly a successful and memorable event for each and every soul. Through this event, God had touched many people and He was truly in our midst. Every heart left 2018 with a smile on their face, and entered 2019 with a fresh and exciting heart for what God is going to do in their life.
