HOPE CHICAGO CHRISTMAS SERVICE
Hope Chicago Church celebrated our Savior’s birth with great excitement, and loving fellowship. The Christmas tree and decorations were put up with the help of church members’ little and big hands. We were ready to light the torch and tell the world that Jesus is the Light of the World, and this was the theme of the celebration this year.
On December 16th, 2018, a saxophone and a violin solo from 12-year-old twins, Abigail and Isabella, playing one of the Christmas classic songs “O Holy Night” opened up our Christmas celebration. The Christmas Choir sang in unison and worship lifting up the name of the newborn King. Thereafter, our youth group joined together on stage for the very first time to present a special performance of “Jingle Bell Rock” to delight the crowd. This young generation appeared again but on the screen in a special video presentation of a boy’s life story on Christmas, which later led to the story of the birth of Jesus.
A powerful testimony was given by a faithful servant of God, Thassanee, who testified the goodness of God, Jehovah Jireh and how she was abundantly blessed financially through her work. Our church also gave a love offering in this giving season to support Moody students who have faithfully and diligently served alongside us. The day’s sermon was taken from John 8:12, and our pastor, David Nattawuttisit, elaborated on Jesus as the Light of the World and the importance of the Light as light brings sight and understanding; light brings life and healing and lastly, light gives security and hope. Eleven visitors came and some of them expressed interest to learn more about God and wanted to visit the church again.
Our festivities continued in the afternoon, which included a catered lunch with potluck from our members, special performances from our senior group and our talented children with their own version of talent shows. It was the most joyous and meaningful time of the year our church spent together because Jesus is the reason for this celebration.
