HOPE KAMPAR PRESENCE YOUTH CONFERENCE

Hope Church Kampar is located in the town of Kampar in the state of Perak in Malaysia. The district that Kampar is located in has a population of a less than 100,000 people. Interestingly, this town is a bustling education hub with a sizeable student population as it has two major tertiary institutions, namely, Tunku Abdul Rahman University College and Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman and numerous high schools. Read about the visionary and bold initiative of Hope Church Kampar to bring the presence of God to the youth of Kampar by organising a youth conference.

Youth– ‘the ambassador of harvest’

The saying that “youth lives on hope and old age on memories” reminds us of the very fact that the young generation is the hope and strength of any nation and if the young ones are cultured and well-equipped, they can prove to be an asset for the nation.

To address the concerns of the youth, recently Hope Church Kampar organised the very first Christian Youth Conference at the Grand Kampar Hotel to empower, inspire and equip the youth to rise up for the harvest. Around 100 conference participants gathered at the three-day conference with an aim to highlight the role of youth in harvesting and allow the next generation to experience God. On the concert night, 362 people turned up! “One third of the population in Kampar are youth! This is the reason we wanted to organise the conference here.” claimed Joshua Gan, the Organizing Chairman.

The three-day conference featured the passionate Ablaze pastor, Pastor Torch Leung from Hope Brisbane, Australia; Reverend Joeann Chong, the founder of Starpark, a ministry established to support Christian artistes from Malaysian Chinese entertainment industry and Wei Wei, the invited artist from Starpark.

The conference sessions were loaded with concerts, games, teachings and also workshops on worship and discipleship. The workshops on discipleship offered the participants opportunity to peep into the reality of a world where fame and wealth is aggrandized and how to coach the next generation to be Christ-like and vibrant for Jesus. The workshops on worship exposed the participants to song writing and composing techniques as well as a practical workshop that touches on team dynamics and techniques that help to improve the worship experience in church.

Presence Celebrations on both nights led by Hope Kampar Praise and Worship team on the first night and Hope Brisbane Praise and Worship team on the second night really ran the gamut, from heart-felt music that brought people to their feet, to heart-rending emotions at the shared struggles of brothers and sisters in Kampar. The presence of God was strongly felt! Furthermore, the sermon preached by Pastor Torch and Reverend Joeann strongly impacted the participants of the conference.

Most of the participants testified that they felt their soul renewed, refreshed and spiritually inspired after this conference. People felt chains were broken and were set free. A great momentum in serving the Lord is being generated now, especially the Hope Kampar Praise and Worship team. Their passion to do more for the kingdom of God is boosted and they want to serve God passionately with their gifting.

“The response of the people at the celebration was simply marvellous! I was amazed by the good turn out on the concert nights. Some people that stayed in the hotel joined us too after knowing that we were organising the event there,” exclaimed Joshua. “I believe the conference was a great breakthrough in many aspects and we experienced the provision and power of the Lord. I am so glad to see the unity in the body of Christ in Kampar and the most importantly, people experienced the powerful presence of God.”

It's hard to believe that Presence was already weeks ago! We hope that you had a life-changing time at the event.
