HOPE GOLD COAST STREET EVANGELISM

Hope Gold Coast, Australia shared the love of Christ to the people in busy streets of Surfers Paradise. Andrew Van Harselaar shared how this evangelistic outreach ministry was birthed and continue to gather momentum.

I moved to the Gold Coast, Queensland in May 2012, and had always been involved in street evangelism. I joined up with Hope Gold Coast and started to do street evax in Southport with limited results. I was not satisfied and was seeking to be more effective. I was then prompted by the Lord to evangelise in the Surfers Paradise night club area to reach out to the revellers at night. This was a little intimidating but I stepped out in faith and went with a small team on a Friday night from around 10pm until late. The grace of God was on the outreach and we were able to minister to many, especially as the night wore on and people let their guards down after a few drinks.

We then started going every fortnight on the Friday night and I made some signboards with the phrase “Jesus loves you” on them. We discovered that the signs attracted many people to have a talk with us. We were able then to pray and share the gospel with them and many of them made a commitment to the Lord.

We see a lot a prodigal sons and daughters come for prayer, advice and recommitments. Many times we had to hide the signs at the end of the night because people kept coming to talk to us. We regularly leave around 2am with joy in our hearts because of the lives impacted by the love of christ.
