HOPE KUALA LUMPUR CHINESE NEW YEAR REUNION DINNER

On 8 February 2014 (Saturday) evening, Hope KL Mandarin congregation hosted its 5th Annual Chinese New Year Reunion Dinner in a Chinese restaurant attended by over 250 people. The theme for the dinner was “Overflowing of Blessings”, signified by the Chinese character “福, fu” which means “blessing”.

Reunion dinner is one of the major highlights of Chinese New Year celebrations. Our church members took this opportunity to invite their families and friends to fellowship with church families. This dinner was a seed-sowing time. For many of the invited guests, they were excited to participate in a Christian event that was culturally related to the Chinese community.

A highlight of the event was the reading of Bible verses on God’s blessings by all the participants after our church leader, Brother Sow Fong, shared a message on “Blessings from God”.

Everyone received an “ang pao – the red packet” which signified the giving of blessing. Over 30 senior citizens were honoured with doubled portions of “ang paos”. Gift hampers were given to the winners of games. The Life Group and the family which have the largest number of attendance were also rewarded with gift hampers sponsored by members of the church.

The Praise Kids Club children were all excited to perform a Chinese cultural dance. Our church Life Group leaders wowed the audients with their appearance in a Chinese New Year song music video produced by the church’s multimedia team. They shined like MTV superstars!

At the end of the dinner, our church leaders surprised Ps Simon with a birthday celebration. It was truly a reunion dinner filled with joy, unity and love.
