HIM OASIS CHURCH, BANGKOK - THANKSGIVING DINNER

When Pastor Mayette reached out to the affected families of typhoon Haiyan, she felt God’s conviction to make the Oasis congregation in Bangkok realize how blessed they were. This experience prompted the celebration of “Thanksgiving” in a different way.

The Thanksgiving Dinner held at Amari Hotel, was strongly supported by the presence of Pastor Soradej, Pastor Deacha of Samutprakan and his team, and the representatives of Pastor Prayuth from Well of Life. This is proof that the HIM family never walks alone.

The event started with an overflowing thanksgiving draw sponsored by generous members of the church; followed by creative artists performing a very artistic dance and hand mime using black light. Pastor Mayette gave an exhortation on the way God walked with the church literally with all the HIM pastor’s strong support.

Three powerful testimonies were given. One on God’s faithfulness during typhoon Haiyan’s devastating blow; the other on how a house of an Oasis member was miraculously preserved while the whole neighborhood was affected, and two other testimonies about the way God promoted the lives of the members.

The congregation sang ‘Thank You Lord’ with these powerful and timely words: There’s a roof up above me, I’ve a good place to sleep. There’s food on my table and shoes on my feet… and a fine (spiritual and physical) family. A holy offering of thanksgiving followed.

A Thai guest invited by Pastor Soradej also testified and encouraged everyone to never stop testifying for the Lord. God gave her a dream about Oasis, whom she never knew about until that night. God also showed us much favour that night. A total of 220 people attended the event but the hotel only asked for payment of 200 people!

Pastor Soradej concluded the night with words of encouragement; to keep up the zeal not only in sharing the gospel, but in serving and testifying about God. The Thanksgiving Dinner was celebrated in its true form, a holy day of remembering and of thanking God’s faithfulness.
