HIM FAMILY NEWS

HIM France Church Planting

It has been 15 months since Sebastian, myself and our three children, Laura-Sophie (10), Lenya (8) and Corin (3) moved from a little town in Germany to the suburbs of Paris. God has been so good to us and all the promises that he had given us in advance have come true.

With the help of Aaron from London, Sebastian is continuing to support our Thai care group. We visited them several times before we moved to France. Right now, Sebastian is teaching a foundation class and mentoring several of the members.

The greatest gift from God are our friends Jonathan and Amelie Chapuis whom we met right before moving to France. They had been planting house churches with a strong emphasis on the prophetic ministry for the last nine years while we were building up a house church network in Germany. God has been preparing their house church network for our arrival, and as soon as we set foot on French soil, God confirmed that we should continue to build God's kingdom together. It was quite challenging at times to mix up our Hope Germany DNA with the French way of living church. Recently God showed us a vision of a vinaigrette where oil and vinegar had to be shaken really hard to be completely combined. However, the combination of our strong emphasis on discipleship and their strong emphasis on prophecy, healing and deliverance turned out to be very efficient!

A group of about 30 people went through a three-month foundation class with us. Some were present via Skype or even telephone, because they are far from Paris, in the center and south of France. One evening, we had twenty people in the living room, five people on Skype, and three on the phone, one of which connected us to a lady at the hospital. Each teaching was written by Sebastian, myself, Amélie or Jonathan. Between adapting to the culture, learning French, helping our children settle into a foreign country and new school system, God has blessed us abundantly with people who cover our weaknesses and complement our ministry.

After this summer, a network of 10 new groups will start out as small house churches, eager to begin care groups and share the Gospel with their friends and family. We are hosting many parties to get connected with new people. Two new foundation classes have just started in the south of France (Toulouse, Valence) and several of our members are teaching the foundation class to their friends.

Regarding our apostolic ministry, we took a second trip through the country during the summer, together with Jonathan and Amélie and all our children (there were six in total, aged between two and ten-years-old) to visit the pioneering groups and contacts all over France. And to celebrate the first water baptism since we arrived! We are meeting more people who ask to be trained as disciples than we can handle at the moment. So please do pray for more workers in the harvest!

In the beginning of November, we will have our first French camp in the French countryside. We made reservations with a house with 50 beds. However, God exceeded our expectations – we are now trying to find a place that can accommodate at least 80 people!

Another promise God gave us was that He would use our move to France for our own personal growth. Sebastian and I and even our children are going through an intense process of inner healing and deliverance. We know that God is preparing and equipping us for the higher level of responsibility. What an amazing, wonderful God we have! All glory to him!

HIM Perth Camp

This year's Church Camp @ Hope Perth is nothing short of an amazing outpouring of Holy Spirit. We have been praying for our members and sensed that God wanted to activate the members of the church to serve Him more in various areas of church ministries. The camp was themed "Activ8". Our HIM president Pastor Simon Eng and Pastor Brendan Kirby came to our camp and blessed us with powerful teachings using Job as a backdrop, with in mind of energising us to serve God in a greater capacity

From the 30th August to the 1st of September, about 70 of us gathered together to spend a quality 2 days and nights with one another. God turned up and everyone had an amazing time. Apart from a spirit-led worship and heart felt preaching, we also had prophetic words from Ps Simon and Ps Brendan given to more than half of the camp attendees. This turned out to be one of the highlights of the camp. Many who attended said that they were energised by the camp experience, and ready to serve God in a greater capacity.

HIM Kuala Lumpur: Water supply project

In 2010, Hope Kuala Lumpur (KL) BM Group helped set up piping to draw water from a source 400m uphill in the village of Kg. Orang Asli Pos Bersih, Slim River, Perak. Since then, there arose a need to upgrade the piping system due to low water pressure and the poor condition of the existing system. Hope KL endeavoured to help residents upgrade the water system. By God’s grace, the church managed to raise RM27, 223.20 through our Christmas celebration and fundraising event held on 25 December 2012.

After months of preparation and negotiations with our contractors, the water supply project began in July 2013. As part of an agreement with the contractor, Hope KL provided manpower for the project, in particular transferring water pipes from the village to the water source – it is 2-3km away from the village and is 300m above sea level. This was to reduce labour and logistics costs.

More than 60 volunteers from Hope KL (BM, English, and Mandarin and student groups) and Hope Senawang helped carry water pipes uphill on 6 July 2013. After four hours of hard work, the task was completed. The village received fresh water at around 3:30pm. Meanwhile we had a quality time of fellowship and blessing the Orang Asli Families in the village with a KFC lunch. We truly appreciated all the love and contribution of the members to this village. Thank you for your partnership.
