CHURCH PLANTING IN CAMBODIA

Greetings from Cambodia!

It has been two years since we started the pioneering work in Cambodia. In our first year, we spent time understanding the culture, learning the language and making friends with the locals. In our second year, God is starting to bring people to us through our English youth development program (Youth Program). It is indeed by the grace of God that the hearts of the Cambodians coming through our Youth Program are open to our friendship and the gospel.

Currently we have a small group of young believers and a few pre-believing friends coming together for our weekly community meetings. At these meetings, we worship the Lord, break bread, pray for each other and learn about the word of God together. We are very thankful and encouraged that a few of the believers, despite being young in their faith, are eager and passionate to share about Jesus to their friends and family in this Buddhist culture where Christians are mocked and even ostracized. A few of them are also trying to share the gospel with their parents who used to object to them becoming a Christian.

We also have a group of pre-believing friends from our Youth Program who are attending our bi-weekly bible study held after the Youth Program. As many of them have not heard of the gospel, this bi-weekly bible study opens the door for them to find out more and for us to share more about this God that we have been talking about. At the same time, we also partner our young believers to outreach to their classmates who are in this Youth Program.

In August, we welcomed Pastor Jeff and Brother Dennis from Hope Singapore. Dennis shared with our young believers the importance of living every day of our life with Jesus using practical examples. Pastor Jeff shared about God to the group of youths in our bi-weekly bible study, challenging them to have a personal relationship with God. Many youths including our young believers were encouraged to know more about the God that Pastor Jeff shared about, the God who created us, who knows us and who has a plan for us.

Pastor Jeff and Brother Dennis also spent time with our young believers, sharing with them their personal experiences and walk with God, encouraging the young ones to continue to know God and love God more. The young believers were truly encouraged by their sharing and continue to share with others what they have heard from Pastor Jeff and Brother Dennis. We are praying that the Lord will build a strong community of believers just like that in Acts 2 who will follow Jesus and be committed disciples who makes disciples. Excited to see what God is going to do in this land of Cambodia through the community of disciples He is building. God bless!
