HIM MINISTRY TOOLS

Nicola works in the HIM Corporate Communications Group which manages the Intranet, a resource centre for HIM pastors and leaders.

The Intranet was an initiative under our five-year master plan, CATALYSE. Surveys conducted showed an overwhelming need for knowledge sharing and access to resources. This month she writes about useful ministry tools that were developed by HIM Ministries Department under the leadership of Bro Julian Lee. The Ministries Department encompasses Education, Missions, Church Health and Salt & Light. These tools are available for download in the Intranet.

If you need tools for Missions and Church Planting, check out the e-booklets such as the Cross-Cultural Church Planting and Short Guide to Preparation of Church Planting. Other than that, there are tools on practical church planting issues such as The Joys and Challenges of Church Planting Singles and Couples and Four Key Intra-Team Issues. If your church is now in the midst of forming a church planting team, these tools could help you.

Recently, the Education Group led by Ps James, has also produced some discipleship materials. The Rapid Discipleship e-booklet is tailor-made to rapidly build the first foundations of a new believer. The lessons are concise and compact with 11 pages in all! Other than that, should you need a complete discipleship model, they have also produced the Discipleship Roadmap, which is a generic discipleship roadmap. The roadmap charts the course of discipleship for the first 8 years of a person who joins us. It recommends the time frame and materials for mentoring and Word For Life classes. All the materials listed are available on the HIM Intranet.

The team has also developed the Church Health e-booklet which is a Church Health Check Tool. This is meant for lead pastors and their pastoral team who are looking for a quick and easier way to evaluate their churches in terms of church health away from the statistical-based evaluation of service and life group attendance. You can even use this as an evaluation tool for your church’s annual planning.
