We have started the group since the end of June, with only handful of man power, we delivered our first Christmas Party, visited homeless people with another church and rock the street with Christmas Carol and Christmas message about the birth of Christ. It is a story about God, how he has brought us a wonderful Christmas time.
Christmas Party by faith
On November, we have come together and decided to hold a Christmas party. Facing limited space, by faith we booked an upstairs café with minimum charge of 35 people for our Christmas party. Though we have not even confirmed to have such number of people to cover the cost it might incurred. It was an exciting time that everyone is waiting for the number of guest to raise up to 35 people. Meanwhile, we started to prepare the program for that night. We even were able to produce a short MV clip within two days.
Praise God that night was a blast for everyone who joins us and our group members also felt greatly encouraged by the response of the guests. Our first game was playing Bingo and the crowd immediately got excited to ask each other different questions. The atmosphere was really warm and welcoming. After such opening, people seems enjoying their dinner and friendship very much. After a short rest, we have split the group into small teams and have them to compete with other teams through various games. Hearing different one cheering for their teams just filled our heart with great joy and thanks to God. Of course Christmas song is a must for a Christmas party, so as a finale we gave Christmas carol. God not only gave us a great time together and even answered our prayer for our finance. We have more than enough to pay off the bills for that night with about 35 people turned up eventually.
God led visitation to homeless people
We originally was planning to visit homeless people on Christmas day, but we all were too busy with preparing the Christmas party that the plan has to be cancelled. However just one week before Christmas day, I have received a phone call asking me whether we can help out in their event which is going out to visit homeless people!! Amazingly God gave us a direction and he brought us this opportunity. On that day, few of us set off for the event expecting to speak to many one. Though eventually we only manage to visit one, we had a great conversation, knowing that he is also a believer but don’t really know how to pray to God. We have shared how we can pray and communicate to God directly. He even seems tearing while we were sharing bible verses with him, telling him that God is faithful to His people and never forsake him.
Street singing with a help sent by God
Beyond our imagination, we didn’t expect to have a guitarist during Christmas time. Suddenly we were notified that we will have a brother from Hope Perth name Aaron on 26th who can play guitar for us for Christmas carolling in the street on 26th. Though it was a short notice, we all were excited for that day. On that week, we have bought a guitar and portable amplifier and off we go on the street to share the message of Christ.
Since we just started our group, most of us have never done it before on the street. With fear and trembling, we set off our way and start to sing in Mong Kok and Tsim Sha Tsui. As we were singing, though we have not gathered a big crowd, our hearts were warmed up by each other singing and even got excited for the second session in Tsim Sha Tsui. After we have sung the song and delivered the message of Christ, our heart just filled with thanks giving and we started to sing worship song on the street.
We will never forget this Christmas, filled with so much Love and guidance by God. Amen
