CATALYSE - THEOLOGICAL WRITERS INITIATIVE

Pastor Prakich leads an initiative of theological writers for HIM. This is one of 16 global initiatives which is part of CATALYSE, our global masterplan for 2011-2015. Today he shares progress updates from this initiative with us.
Our team was started in Jan 2011 as one among 16 global initiatives as part of CATALYSE. Our initiative is Establish a team of theological writers for GC content and position papers.
Our team consists of Dr Ian Foley from Melbourne, Lim Han Hui from Singapore, Dr Biju Issac originally from India and myself originally from Thailand. Now Issac resides in Kuching and I in Leeds, the UK.
In this article, we will present a progress update on the team’s work.
As an international movement, we cannot avoid encountering all sorts of theological concepts, some of which might be new to us or different from ours. This requires us to therefore make our stand.
Currently we are working on 2 controversial theological topics, namely, Spiritual Manifestation and Female Leadership. Though they are not new issues, we cannot deny the fact that they remain subjects of debate in the Body of Christ today.
Following the Toronto Blessing phenomenona at the Toronto Airport Vineyard Church in 1994, a number of churches around the globe in the last 2 decades experienced tremendous outpouring of the Holy Spirit, with ecstatic manifestations. While the people who experienced it claimed their relationships with God have been deepened and their lives have changed, the others struggled to find biblical basis to support the incidents. We attempt to find out what the Bible says about it.
While some Christian groups are against the idea and practice of female leadership, there are many female leaders in HIM churches. There is no doubt that God anointed these godly ladies, attested by their fruitful ministries. We believe we are not forced into this situation. But female leadership is sound biblically.
This project is carried out by 2 persons who have remarkable Bible knowledge and academic experience, namely, Han Hui from Hope Singapore and Biju issac from Hope Kuching.
I am involved in the Global Conference team for developing content. Dr Ian Foley helps me in this area.
