PASTOR SIMON ENG MESSAGE
Hi H.I.M family! It is great to be able to communicate again. I just want to share my heart with you and take this time for us to be able to connect together.
Lessons from the Life of Joseph
I have been impressed about this wonderful man in the Bible called Joseph. I have been reading and studying Genesis 41, where he interpreted the dreams for Pharaoh; and in Genesis 45, whereby he finally revealed himself to his brothers. I want to share with you some thoughts that could help us in our ministries and in our leadership as well. As I have been medicating on these points, let me share with you three areas.
Life of Joseph: A man filled with the Holy Spirit
For the first area, we notice that when Joseph communicated the dream to Pharaoh, Pharaoh noticed clearly that the spirit of God was with Joseph. It means that Joseph had the spirit of God in his life. Brothers and sisters, I want to encourage every one of us to ensure that the Holy Spirit is working things in your life. When the Holy Spirit works in our life, basically it means that God is at work in our lives as well. God has given us everything we need to do his work; to serve Him faithfully and to serve Him fruitfully as well. I want to encourage us to utilise the tools of the Holy Spirit; it could be the gifts, the power or the working of the Holy Spirit which God has given to us. I want to encourage us to continually seek God; that the power, the work of the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit itself is with us. We will see the difference just as Joseph was distinctly different when Pharaoh noticed he could interpret the dream and he saved the people.
Life of Joseph: A man filled with sense of urgency
The second area, that I want to encourage all of us in, is to have a sense of urgency. Joseph realised there was only seven years to reap the harvest: seven years to prepare the storage, seven years to get ready for the next seven years of famine. I want to encourage us to work with a sense of urgency. Brothers and sisters, although we know that there may be a lot of years ahead of us, it is good for us to prepare ourselves for a limited number of years. It is so we get our people ready, our leaders ready, and our resources ready to be reserves for what will change in the future. If we look at what is happening around us, brothers and sisters, we really need to work with a sense of urgency. It means we need to be more efficient with what we do and the time we spend and the resources we use. I trust that just like Joseph prepared himself to be efficient for the next seven years, we will prepare ourselves for the next three to five years to really speak into our church, really speak to our leaders; get our people ready, get our churches ready for the harder times to come. The world events are fulfilling God’s calendar and we got to be ready.
Life of Joseph: A man who made a difference
The third thought I want to share with all of us is that Joseph made a difference to his community, to his nation where he was staying. Brothers and sisters, wherever we are, I want to encourage us to make a difference in your life, your ministry, your job and your tasks. Make a difference by you being present. Joseph really made a difference: he in fact brought salvation to Egypt and the surrounding nations; and to his own house and family as well. You and I can make a difference. You know Jesus said we are salt and light; meaning we bring a positive influence. You and I, if we think about it, if we seriously pray and seek God every day as we live, every quarter as we serve God; try to really make a difference to our ministries and our group of people; and even to our churches and communities. Brothers and sisters, I just want to encourage us to continually think about these three areas. It will certainly make a difference to where we are, just as Joseph himself did in Egypt.
Upcoming Events
By the time you see this, the Oceania Convention where we will have about 700-800 people gathered together, will have finished. Next will be our Thai Camp in May, where we will be gathered together as well to minister to quite a large group of our family and people there. I want to encourage you to pray with us that all around the regions of the world we will continually see God doing wonderful things and preparing our people for the wonderful things to come.
God bless you, have a wonderful quarter and til I see you somewhere at camp or conference, keep yourself fruitful and may the favour of God be with you. Amen.
