HIM STRATEGIC PLANNING TEAM UPDATES
STRATEGIC PRIORITY 3 OF 6
The Strategic Planning Team (SPT) is gearing up for the launch of our five-year plan at the January 2011 Global Conference (GC) in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
For now, we will bring you an overview of the third of Six Strategic Priorities for the next five years from 2011 – 2015: From Basic to Missional Christian Education
Our current Christian Education (CE) is effective in grounding new believers and developing young leaders in the basics of the Christian faith and ministry. Over the years our churches have adapted and adjusted the model such that the breadth and depth of content varies depending on the CE providers.
There is a need to revamp our basic CE to a missional one; and from a patchwork stance to a comprehensive approach so we can provide increasing depth to equip our maturing people for a contemporary world in all its varied contexts.
Our first initiative is to develop our discipleship roadmap. This process will improve mentoring and leadership succession. Our second and third initiatives are the setting up of the School of Ministry and the School of Church Planting. The School of Ministry will look into training for leaders in specific key ministries including Fivefold Ministry, Youth Ministry, Worship Ministry, Children Ministry and Christian Counselling. The School of Church Planting will focus on inter-cultural church planting including training CP coaches and inter-cultural CP training for intending church planters.
The fourth initiative will focus on developing a team of theological writers to develop our Global Conference content as well as contribute towards HIM position papers on doctrinal or practice issues.
SPT will bring you more updates next month. Till then, you can reach us here:
