HIM STRATEGIC PLANNING UPDATE

STRATEGIC PRIORITY 1 OF 6

The Strategic Planning Team (SPT) has just completed their fifth planning summit in mid-June.

In our last update, we mentioned that Six Strategic Priorities have emerged for the next five years from 2011 – 2015. Beginning this month, we will give you an overview of each Strategic Priority in our monthly update.

Here is an overview of our first Strategic Priority:

From Variable to Consistently Healthy Churches

From the time our first international church was pioneered in 1989, we have always been marked with a passionate vision in our hearts to disciple the nations. As we take stock of our churches that we have since planted, it is apparent that the values, vision and philosophy of our local churches across the globe have varied intensity.

Our family is not an association of independent local churches merely related by name and doctrine. We are a closely-knitted connectional church planting movement with an identical spiritual DNA. With a growing presence in 40 countries, it is fundamental for us to minimise the variance.

Our goal is to help grow healthy churches that embody our core values and distinctive. In line with this, we will embark on three key initiatives.

The first is to identify and document Hope distinctive. With this clearly in place, we will develop generic training materials to assist pastors in the implementation of our distinctive in their local church context.

The second is to develop a Church Health Assessment System that incorporates measurement of qualitative health indicators. Building upon such an assessment system, we can then provide recommendations to address common church health issues amongst local churches.

The third is to rejuvenate a growing passion for God expressed through our mission, values and culture.

We will catch up at the next SPT update. Till then, you can reach us here: spt@byhim.org
